The mission of Asha Imports is to be a voice for the poor and oppressed people of Asia. The Bengali word "asha" means hope.

Poverty in southern and southeastern Asia has caused a countless number of women to turn to the sex trade in Calcutta, India. Asha Imports partners with several non-governmental organizations in Calcutta to provide skills training and employment, such as sewing projects, to women struggling to regain their lives. Through job opportunities, these courageous women have taken back their humanity and are ensuring a better future for themselves and their children.

Every sari blanket and scarf represents one woman's struggle from sex trafficking and poverty to freedom.
